Intermediate & advanced arm balances ~ core strengthening
+ The Four Purifications kriya sequence as taught by Baba Hari Dass
As we grow to enjoy arm balances, we begin to notice there’s something different about these poses. Most asanas are predominated by a sense of expansion; however, this unusual family of postures demands great strength. We will learn to work on arm balances with an eagle’s eye for the relative geometry of our skeleton in space and a killer powerhouse of core strength.
The process can feel like using a manual focus camera for the first time. But serious photographers need control over all the elements of the camera in order to capture and share the light they see. So whether you are just establishing your foundation in hand balances or you blast off regularly from arm balances to vinyasas, this workshop will challenge you to make giant gravity-defying steps.
Bring what you’ve got and together we will tackle some of the more rarely taught arm balances such as Dragonfly, Eka Pada Goluvasana, and the vinyasa from Eka Pada Koundinyasana 1 to 2.
“The purpose of this work is to make the ‘impossible’ possible, the ‘possible’ easy, and the ‘easy’ elegant.”— Moshe Feldenkrais
